Veteran Hunters Canada is a non-profit organization operated by volunteers who are retired Canadian Forces Veterans and First Responders, who themselves have gone through their own Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries (PTSI) or Operational Stress Injuries (OSI) journeys. Their goal is to serve their fellow Veterans and First Responders by providing peer support and therapy gained through outdoor adventures.
Veteran Hunters are the only organization of its kind in Canada, not only for the means of therapy used, but also for the fact that all participants are led by a peer, either a Veteran or a First Responder who has experienced similar trauma.
To date they have helped over 350 Veterans and First Responders. These are men and women, who could not find another organization that brought as much peace to them as The Veteran Hunters. Their mission is to provide therapeutic hunting, fishing and outdoor adventures designed to expand mindfulness and peer-to-peer healing.
The Veteran Hunters offer the following programs:
- REBOOT Trauma Recovery
- Hunting for Heroes Program including a 2-day peer led outdoor adventure tailored to your specific need
- Hunting/Fishing Mentors
- Other Peer Support Activities such as 3D Archery Competition, Parking Lot Coffees and access through Partner Organizations (CAFTG/TC)
- Chaplain Services
- Assistance with Veterans Affairs Canada Applications & Benefits
